Shipping Compliance Officer Job Description

The Shipping Compliance Officer will ensure the safe and environmentally sound operation of the fleet by guiding relevant standards motivating vessels’ personnel for continuous improvement and encouraging enhancement of performance. As well as performing internal office and vessel compliance audits periodically.

Shipping Compliance Officer Responsibilities

  • Motivate vessels’ personnel for continuous improvement and encourage enhancement of performance.
  • Perform internal office and vessel compliance audits periodically.
  • Participate in the emergency response team during emergencies on the vessels.
  • Supported coordinating planned and emergency drills/ unannounced drug and alcohol tests for the crew onboard.
  • Keep abreast with the Statutory and Class regulations and standards.
  • Analyze the results of assigned vessels’ inspections and follow up on all reports of vessels’ condition and performance.
  • Conduct periodic safety and quality inspections and audits on the company’s ships.
  • Periodically provide reports of activities done.
  • Support in sensitizing the shipping department (office staff and crew) to ensure compliance of the safety management system (SMS).
  • Suggest possible improvements/modifications to the MS and DPA.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
